Evolution

2nd in the series. Start here for the post I am expanding.
When I grabbed the RS out of my mailbox, I glanced at it and threw it on the table. I did not get to it until 3 days later.
I read the Nici article with interest, for it signaled to me that it really is no end to what women have to do.
As I have mentioned before it is not enough to fulfill your role-wife, girlfriend, dancer, escort, sugar baby, hooker, erotic massage therapist, and all categories not mentioned.
One must be hotter, sexier, more exotic than that. It helps to be a porn star, I suppose, to really reel in a big whale.
I thought porn stars were the ones that raked in the money, and then went off to live quiet lives in the gated communities or on a farm in Montana. We have heard about the smart girls who invest and turn 5 years of hard sweaty work into a lifelong income stream.
Now, even the porn stars have to supplement their income. This is horrifying.
Peddling one’s image and/or body was supposed to be lucrative.
Porn was supposed to be the fast route to the piles of lush crispy green. I mean, there she is, wide open, on film. doesn’t it pay???
Alas, no..,not enough…it seems.
*grunt, frown, grinding teeth, shaking fists at the sky*
I believe that the ante has to be upped periodically. Nature of the game. But if the polished, buffed and sleek pros are the ones sought after for good money, what do the regular girls have coming? Battling and scrounging over crumbs? Doing more and more for the same-or even less-money?
Yes, there has always been a hierarchy, as one ascends the social ladder. Plus, age besets us all. The street walker on the corner will not get what the escort does. The average escort will not get what the courtesan commands as her due.
But gee whiz, Batman. This is sick.
I have hoped for cooler heads to prevail, for civility even among the lusty.
To recap a few quotes from the article:
“But she was always looking for richer men to book her girls, so she could attract a better class of women and make connections to still wealthier men.”
Yeah, the more disposable income a man has and the more stress he has, the more he will feel entitled to spend. Makes sense, as asking the wino outside supermarket to join in is not going to bring in the big dollars.
What constitutes a better class of women? Charm, wit, brains, along with beauty? Or just that hot’n'nasty super sexpot vibe?
“Not young, drug-addled nobodies like the girl who blew Eliot Spitzer but the pinnacle of L.A. beauty, women who represented the gold standard in the world of international escorting…”
Well, I am not sure that all the finest L.A. girls are 100% drug free but I will not bet money on it. I knew a few guys who like a young woman, who looks nice but is not glitzy, per se.
In truth, maybe a quiet and discreet girl is what some of these guys need. Dunno. But all women have their charms.
“…the hookers have gone where all the business has gone: the internet. Even websites that pretend to be casual about free sex–like Craigslist’s “Casual Encounters”, or Fling.com are populated largely by women looking to get paid; sites such as SeekingArrangement .com and SugarDaddy .Com are explicit in their intentions. “
And here we go to th heart of the matter-women have become savvier and more take-charge. As they are treated like commodities, they begin to act as such, and go for dollars instead of empty promises and questionable treatment.
When women are reduced to a easily separated pile of body parts, there is no surprise that they demand money for such psychological dismembering. When men have gotten used to cheap and easy sex without much effort, sex does lose it’s frisson, luster, scarcity. (date?? what date? Oh you mean the texting earlier today??) When people are acting out of desire, not desire tinged with reason, all sorts of stuff can happen.
People can be uncivil, careless. Crude, even.
I do not stand in judgment of the women in the article, or the ones I pass on the train, on my way to class or to pay my tax bill. In the marginalized areas I pass through to reach the city center, there are women struggling to make a buck for whatever reason.
They are no better or worse than the girl who got Prince too-many-vowels-in-his-name to buy her a car and all the clothes and jewels she wanted.
However, I bet street walking girl has to work harder for her daily bread, than the others. Every on deserves a modicum of respect, I think.
But that is the nature of the game, is it not?
I just wonder what is next.

I’d imagine that like any market, this one will in time bottom out. Now what that means in terms of the lives involved I fear to imagine.

Air Force Amy, who is the leading lady at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada is an ex-porn star. She cleans up about a half a million a year, or at least did when I met her.
